Ramadan marketing in the UAE: how to plan your ads, offers and content
Ramadan changes how people in the UAE live, shop and use their phones for a month, and Eid al-Fitr at the end is one of the biggest gifting and spending moments of the year. Brands that plan early do well. Brands that react on the day usually pay more for less. Here is how we plan it.

Know the dates, and keep them flexible
Ramadan follows the Islamic lunar calendar, so it starts around 10 to 11 days earlier every year and the exact date depends on the moon sighting. In 2027 it is expected to begin around 8 February, with Eid al-Fitr around 9 or 10 March. Build your plan with a few days of flexibility at both ends.
Plan in three phases
| Phase | When | Focus |
|---|---|---|
| Before Ramadan | 2 to 3 weeks before | Prepare creative, offers and stock. Build audiences and warm them up. |
| During Ramadan | The holy month | Respectful, value-led messaging. Shift ad schedules to the evening and late night. |
| Eid al-Fitr | Last 10 days and Eid | Gifting, fashion, travel and dining. Push the strongest offers before Eid starts. |
Adjust when your ads run
Daily routines change during Ramadan. Working hours are shorter, and browsing and shopping move later into the evening, after iftar and into the night. Review your hour-of-day reports from the previous Ramadan if you have them, and adjust ad schedules and budgets so you are present when your customers are.
Get the tone right
- Focus on family, generosity, gathering and giving, rather than hard selling.
- Avoid imagery of eating or drinking during daytime placements.
- Write Arabic creative natively, not as a translation of the English version.
- Keep offers simple and clear. Gift bundles and free delivery tend to work better than complicated discounts.
Budget and bidding
Competition in the auction rises as Ramadan and Eid approach, so costs per click usually go up. Set aside extra budget for the last ten days and Eid, and make sure your target return is realistic for a more expensive auction. If you use automated bidding, tell Google about expected conversion changes with seasonality adjustments rather than making sudden manual changes.
Do not forget the channels you own
Email and WhatsApp messages to customers who opted in are often the most profitable part of a Ramadan campaign. Plan a short sequence: a Ramadan greeting, a gift guide, a reminder before Eid delivery cut-off dates and an Eid greeting.
Frequently asked questions
When should Ramadan campaigns start?
Prepare creative and audiences two to three weeks before Ramadan, start light campaigns at the beginning of the month and put the most budget into the last ten days before Eid.
Do ad costs go up during Ramadan?
Usually yes, especially in the run-up to Eid when many advertisers compete for the same audiences. Plan budgets and targets for that.
Should we pause ads during Ramadan?
Rarely. Most categories see strong demand, but the message, timing and tone should change for the month.
