Google Ads in the UAE: a practical guide for brands selling in the Emirates
Google is still where most buying intent in the UAE starts. People search before they visit a clinic, compare prices before they order online and look up suppliers before they request a quote. This guide covers how we set up and run Google Ads accounts for brands selling in the Emirates, and the mistakes we see most often when we audit them.

Start with what the business needs to earn
Before any campaign is built, agree what a good result looks like in money. For an online store that is usually a target return on ad spend based on your margin. For a lead-based business it is a target cost per qualified lead, based on how many leads turn into customers and what a customer is worth.
Without that number, every decision in the account becomes a matter of opinion. With it, you can judge every campaign, keyword and product on the same scale. Our ROAS calculator works out the break-even point from your margin in a few seconds.
Structure the account around intent, not around the website menu
- Brand campaigns for people searching your name. They are cheap and convert well, so keep them separate or they will hide how the rest of the account performs.
- Non-brand Search for people searching what you sell. This is where new customers come from and where most budget is won or lost.
- Competitor campaigns, only if you have a clear reason to win those searches, with their own budget and target.
- Shopping or Performance Max for product catalogues, with brand traffic excluded so it is not credited for sales that would have happened anyway.
Run English and Arabic properly
The UAE is a bilingual market. Many residents search in English, while Emirati and wider Arab audiences often search in Arabic, especially on mobile. Treat them as separate audiences:
- Separate ad groups or campaigns for Arabic keywords, with ads written in Arabic, not machine translated.
- Landing pages in the same language as the ad. An Arabic ad that lands on an English page loses most of its value.
- Search term reports reviewed in both languages, because negative keywords in one language do not block the other.
Plan around the UAE calendar
Demand in the Emirates moves with Ramadan, Eid, the summer travel season, back to school, White Friday in November and the Dubai Shopping Festival in December and January. Budgets, offers and ad schedules should be planned for these periods weeks in advance, not adjusted on the day. During Ramadan in particular, browsing shifts later into the evening and night.
Get tracking right before you judge anything
- Install GA4 and Google Tag Manager, and import the right conversions into Google Ads.
- Turn on enhanced conversions so more sales and leads can be matched to clicks.
- Compare conversions in Google Ads with real orders or CRM leads for the same period. If they do not match, fix that first.
- For lead businesses, send qualified leads back to Google Ads as offline conversions so bidding learns from quality, not volume.
The mistakes we see most often in UAE accounts
- Broad match keywords running without a negative keyword list, paying for irrelevant searches.
- Performance Max taking credit for brand searches that were already converting.
- Location targeting set to "presence or interest", showing ads to people outside the UAE.
- One campaign for the whole country, with no split between Dubai, Abu Dhabi and the northern Emirates when performance differs.
- Bidding on clicks or conversions when the business needs revenue or qualified leads.
Frequently asked questions
How much should I spend on Google Ads in the UAE?
There is no fixed minimum. Size the budget so each campaign gets enough clicks to learn, usually enough for a few dozen conversions a month, and grow it once the return is proven. Our Google Ads budget calculator works backwards from a revenue target.
Should I advertise in Arabic or English?
Usually both. Run them as separate ad groups or campaigns with their own keywords, ads and landing pages, and judge each on its own results.
How long before Google Ads shows results?
Search campaigns can bring sales in the first weeks. Automated bidding and Performance Max usually need several weeks of conversion data before they settle.
