How the calculation works

ROAS is revenue from ads divided by ad spend. Break-even ROAS is 1 divided by your gross margin: with a 40% margin, every 100 of sales leaves 40 to pay for ads, so you break even at a ROAS of 2.5. Anything above that is profit.

The ACoS equivalent is the same ratio expressed the way Amazon and noon report it: ad spend as a percentage of ad revenue.

Use the margin after product cost, shipping, payment fees and returns. Using the selling price margin alone makes break-even look lower than it is.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good ROAS?

Any ROAS comfortably above your break-even ROAS. A ROAS of 3 can be very profitable for a 60% margin product and a loss for a 25% margin product.

Does ROAS include VAT?

Use revenue without VAT for the most accurate result, because VAT is passed on to the authority and is not income.
